THIS CONTRACT made and entered into in duplicate this 17th day of Nov,
A.D. 1928 by and between THE BOARD OF PUBLCI INSTRUCTION FOR THE COUNTY OF DUVAL,
STATE OF FLORIDA, hereinafter called The Board, and R.E Payne
hereinafter called The Teacher, both of which terms shall include their respective successors, heirs and assigns,
wherever the context so requires or admits:

WITNESSES: That the said Board for and in consideration of the full and complete performance by
the Teacher of the agreements hereinafter set forth, agrees to employ said Teacher to teach in the public
schools of the said County of Duval, Florida, in such school or schools, grade or grades, as the Superintendent
of Public Instruction may designate, commencing on the 15th day of Oct. 1928.
and ending at the end of the scholastic year next ensuing, and to pay for such services the sum of $
payable at the rate of $194.44 per month during the session of said school in such scholastic year,
Provided, However, that the Teacher shall continously keep and perform the following agreements, to-wit:

1. To well and faithfully perform the duties of Teacher in said school according to the laws of the
State, regulations of the Department of Public Instruction of Florida, and the rules and regulations of
this Board.

2. To continue and remain as teacher in the said schools during the entire sessions of said schools in
said scholastic year, health permitting; to submit to and enforce the rules of the Board in the school in which
he or she may be teaching; to male all such reports to the Superintendent and to give to the Board all such
informtion relative to said school and the pupls thereof, as the Board may require.

3. It is expressly understood and agreed that the Board shall have the right to discharge the said
Teacher, if found to be incompetent, or if for other good and sufficent reason the Board deems it best for
the said school so to do, Provided, However, that twenty (20) days notice of such discharge or dismissal shall
be given and the teacher shall not be entitled to any compensation from and after such dismissal.

4.It is expressly understood and agreed that if for any reason the Teacher shall not teach the entire
scholastic year, the said Teacher shall be paid only for the part of such year actually taught.

5. If it shall be deemed necessary to close the school temporarily because of an epidemic or other
cause of which the Board has no control, said Teacher shall, provided he or she holds himself in
readiness to teach at any time, not thereby be deprived of his or her salary.

6. The teacher shall be subject to all the rules and regulations of the Board relating to vacations.
