Dear Mr. Bond:

As proposed via telephone just a few minutes ago, I issue herewith a most urgent invitation for you to be our featured headliner for what we think will be one of the most significant gatherings of young people ever assembled in our State.

It is proposed that our ANNUAL MEETING, scheduled at the Oklahoma Center for Continuing Education at the University of Oklahoma in Norman on Saturday, October 26, 1968 depart from its usual format of reports, organizational boasting, and "nit-picking." Instead we propose to get with the action.

We are planning the program along the general outline of a similar gathering held in Oregon last Fall. A photostat of one page of their program will give you some idea as to what WE have in mind.

We have already assembed an alert and informed group of resource persons. We have also lined up a cross-section of students representing such stances as those of the hippy, the square, the extreme left, the extreme right, the middle-of-the-road. No-holds-barred symposia will be conducted on such matters as sex, war, generation gap, cultural gap, racial gap, dope, etc.

We anticipate an attendance of 500.

But we need a headliner -- but not just ANY headliner. So, after your appearances on TV during the recent Chicago convention, it was the consensus of our office this morning that your experience, your general bearing, your attainmnets, represented a made-to-order combination of what is needed to complete our proposed program. Hence our telephone call and this letter.

Frankly, we are a voluntary, less-than-a-non-profit group; so we could not presume to offer you an honorarium as substantial as you no doubt can expect from now on. At the same time we would not presume to ask you to share your time and influence merely for expenses.

If it is at all possible for you to arrive at a quick decision on this matter it would be most helpful if you could let us know on or before Tuesday morning. September 2,
