Dear Jerry,

Having seen Aretha Franklin on television singing at Mahalia Jackson's Chicago funeral, I felt moed to write to urge you to undertake a gospell album.

If she could find the time, the world, and all of us, would be a great deal richer. I heard her old gospel album on Chess, and think a new one could be much more soulful.

I thought I read something recently about her doing some work on a gospel album in Los Angeles. If this is true, and I hope it is, keep it up. If not, I hope it will be.
