Dear Sirs:

In your otherwise excellent coverage of the House's passage of House Bill 1825 one mistake appears.

The Bill sponsored by Rep. Ben Brown and myself does not call for sickle cell testing of newborn infants; sickle cell anemia is not evident in newborn infants.

What HB 1825 does provide for is testing for newborn infants at birth for BKU or testing, as soon as practicable afterward for Sickle Cell Anemia.

Sincerely,

Julian Bond
