Dear Yancy:

I'm sorry I wasn't able to get back to you last Thursday. I hope that you were able to get everything straight, and that you gave Jack my best wishes when you returned to D.C. and stressed how important it is for Jack and me to get together soon.

I may be in Washington - for the day only - on the 11th of February, and would like to be able to see him then, if only for an hour or so.

At any rate, I am really writing about the matter we discussed on Thursday.

I would like to see Southern Elections Fund get some of the overflow if at all possible, particularly if I have not use of it myself.

I'd also like to emphasize that if C.B. runs as a Republican, not one of the black officials - probably including myself - could support him, because that would mean that everyone who voted for him in my district could not vote for me.

At any rate, I hope you can think on these matters, and get back in touch with me.

Sincerely,

Julian

Mr. Yancy Martin Democratic National Committee Washington, D.C.
