there. Thos. P. remained in Huntsville, until the month
1828's [?] meeting with flattering ecouragement
in his profession. In this month he brought
his wife to Winchester to remain until after her
confinement, such being the desire of her sister Mary
Campbell. On the (space) day (space) of (space) she was delivered
of a still born, female child & on the (space),
this highly gifted, accomplished & excellent woman
departed this life of puerperal fever. It was
a heavy blow upon us all, particularly upon her
devoted husband. (Vide his account of her death
delineation of her character &c. in the family
Bible)
The health of Thos P. continuing to decline he came
to the determination to spend the succeeding winter
in the Island of Cuba. His wife at the time
of their marriage was the owner of a beautiful
and valuable unimproved lot on the (space) side
of (space) Street in the city of Nashville.
For some time before her death, she labored under
a strong presentment that she would not survive
the birth of the child, with which she was
[ensient?] she believed that her husband's bad health
would not only prevent him from pursuing his profession
but render it indispensibly necessary for him to
spend his wintersat least,in a more congenial
climate. They had very little property besides the
lot part of which was sold to a man of the name
of Porter & the title to the remainder she desired should be vested
in him, to guard against any possible accident.
This desire of hers is clearly manifested in her letters
to her husband (Vide letters on file). Yielding to
his wife's often repeated wishes, he, at the time
the deed to Porter was prepared, also prepared one
conveying the unsold portion of the Lot to Benjn
