May 21, 1922 - Sunday
Didn't get any more letters off this a.m. The M's came
with the silver wedding pictures; I got 5. Then Mrs. C.
came & waited for B. & G. to go home to breakfast with
her. I finished reading the dailies; worked up 2
tins of butter; helped give out break., & later all the
dinner. Dr. T. came with a big bunch of lettuce,
enough for break. & dinner. Rained hard again this
aft., beginning earlier than usual. I saw the squir-
rel [squirrel] on our roof this a.m. before I got out of bed. Wrote
to Katharine, sending about 55 kodak pictures and some old
letters; to the Pettus girls enclosing a dozen of the same,
notes to Mr. Saussy, Margaret, & to Mrs. E, to Miss P. to-
gether [together], sending the latter 2 of the A.W. prints. E. & I
were the only ones from this household who went to
ch. this aft, Mr. Sheldon preaching again – on the two
talent person, a very good presentation. Only about a
doz. of our people there, but we were still the largest
part of the congregation. Spoke to Mrs. Chapman after-
wards [afterwards]; she had to play the organ. Mr. & Mrs. H. sat on
our little porch & read awhile this eve, but as usual
we all retired soon after 9 p.m. I didn't get any calls
in today, nor finish several of the other things I
wished to do. Must begin to pack tomorrow; hope the
dhoby brings my things, so I will not only have some
clean clothes, but won't have to cram all those things
in at the last minute. Will go to bazaar tomorrow &
take pictures as well as buy a big basket of fruit & veg-
etables to take down to the deaf school. The others
got their "news" but none for me thus far; a small
number this time. Read the 1st story in the Y.C. Mrs. H.
& B. will do the buying in the a.m. Saya is not coming.

May 22, 1922 – Monday
No lessons this a.m. as this is our last bazaar day
and Mr. Ali Sou wanted to do some purchasing as
well as the rest of us. Mrs. H. & Miss B. did the house-
hold [household] buying, & I did not go down till later, when I
got 4 of the red woven phongyi bags, 4 dales & a pr.
of silver ear-rings -–different from the two prs.
I got sometime ago; then I got a big basket for the
large sum of 3 a., & the saya happening along who
helped I. & I on our first bazaar. I appealed to him
again, & he sent me 2 small boys as porters. I
then bought potatoes, onions, 2 cabbage heads, egg plant, beets, beans, peas,
peaches, mangoes and a big baal fruit to take
down with me. I got a few pictures, mostly of pa-
daung [padaung] women with bamboos around their waists
and strings of beads in their hair, for which I had
to pay the more sophisticated to pose for me.
It was now about noon so I hurried across the
maiden for fear I'd be late for breakfast, but it
hadn't been called when I arrived. Before going
out I had had the sweeper clean out the store
room, & then had put out fresh papers, filled
the sugar bowl, etc. E. & B. both bought some
wild figs for jam, as well as the H's who were
cooking theirs again in the aft. Had a few min-
utes [minutes] after eating with Saya, long enough to go over
my sentences; & then returned to the store-room
to spread out my vegetables so they wont spoil.
Intended packing today, but I. came back from bazaar
sick & went to bed, so I knew she wouldn't want
all that confusion in the room; so I read awhile
this aft. & did such things as I could outside. Will
pack tomorrow.
