July 30, 1922 – Sunday
Read my S.S. lesson & returned book to Mrs. E's room; Dr.
T. will conduct, so we won't have individual classes.
Under this, & other circumstances, didn't attend any
of the meets. today; would have liked to have gone to
Eng. service this eve, but didn't feel like sitting thru
the B. one following. Got off several more letters &
a card to M.P. including the Pettus girls, Katharine, Mrs.
Haynes & Miss Campbell. Have still about a dozen
cards to write, as I've gotten sadly behind since being
here. Was behind on the dailies, so read 4 Gazettes, &
have one left over for tomorrow. Sewed the lace on
my kimona that came from the wash & put away.
One black mosquito has gotten under my net the
last two nights, waking me of course, where I would
have to arise, turn on the light, & slay it before I
could have any peace. Am not feeling quite so sleepy
these last few days; don't know whether it is the
quinine I'm taking or not. Laid down a good part
of the aft. & eve; wrote out the weekly calendar to
put up tomorrow. Will make an announcement
about it in chapel tomorrow. Had some music on the
Vic. last eve, the first for sometime; music – the real
kind – always rests & soothes me. I think I'll have
to ask some one for a Vic.; I'd also like Walter Camps
daily dozen records of physical exercises to music.
I need a bicycle too, but think of the two I'd rather
feed my soul than ease my body for the present.
Have to buy more stamps tomorrow; must also write
another long letter next week; & a little later, the one
to be read before the Pitts. Society. I hope I can get the
kind of cardboard I need at the press.

July 31, 1922 – Monday
Didn't go to meet. again this eve; Mrs. W. dining with the G's.
Put up a packet of old letters to send to Lucile. Still cutting
pictures; have raised a blister on my middle finger, so
am now using my 3rd. – Am going to ask some S.S. class
for a half doz. new Fawk & W's dictionaries, as the school
seems to be short of this – according to my opinion, very
necessary article. Am going to ask some one for Perry pic-
tures [pictures] and Gov. printing office list as well; books are prac-
tically [practically] the only things that come in duty free, we need
them, so here goes. I wish I had a fairy godmother or fa-
ther [father] – I wouldn't be at all particular about the sex – I could
keep two busy for awhile, I'm sure! I keep Jeni busy these
days emptying my waste basket; also I agree with Mrs. DeVore
that I wouldn't live without a floor!! After I've used what
pictures I want, I'm going to have the lower standards
make scrap books, & we'll give to the hospitals at Christ-
mas [Christmas] time. Went to see Ma T.M.; her father wasn't badly
hurt after all, tho' he got a knife wound on his shoulder.
There's an interesting serial in the Y.C. now, "That [Term?] on
Seven-Mile". They are going to begin having cereal again; I
don't care as long as I don't have to eat it. V. & M's baby is an-
other [another] boy – too bad they are disappointed. Can't give my Eng.
Class too long lessons these days on acct. of the meetings. Dr.
McC. kindly loaned several of his native pastors to assist
the 1st week of our meet., & about 3000 tracts were dis-
tributed [distributed], mostly by a house to house canvas.
