Tuesday, January 14, 1947 I didn't sleep very much last night. My stomach ached and my Right side. I am Kinda afraid I might have appendicitis. I don't feel well today but some better than I did last night. I ironed most of my clothes & have done the general house work. I mended some clothes this afternoon & Read some. Betty Wiley came after Uncle Brack's clothes. I Read some tonight.
Wednesday, January 15, 1947 Mother ironed her clothes and I finished my ironing. I feel a good deal better today. My side hasn't hurt much today. I have done the general house work. I got a card from Alyene Rogers. I wrote her a letter this afternoon & Read some. Claronce James came late this afternoon & will spend the night & work for Rex a few days. Claronce & I Played Rook tonight. Rex wrote Ernest Baugh & Read some.

Thursday, January 16, 1947 I feel better today. I have done the general house work & read some & read some to Robert this afternoon. I read some tonight also. Rex & I played 2 games of checkers & Rex won Both of them. It is some colder today. We wan't to kill hogs tomorrow if it is cold enough. Rex got through stripping tobacco. Claronce, Mr. Jones & Nealie Gipson help Rex today.
Friday, January 17, 1947 I have felt fairly well today but Mother has felt awful bad. She has had the colic. I have cleaned up the house and have done the general house work. Rex, Claronce & I played Rook tonight. It is some colder today but Rex was afraid it wasn't cold enough to kill hogs. I took a bath this afternoon & gave Robert a Bath.

Saturday, January 18, 1947 Rex,Robert & I went to town this afternoon. Robert went to Jessie's and I went to the show. Rex sold some chickens for Mother & I this morning and they brought $21.16. I got Rex a shirt for his b birthday & got a Book for Robert to give him. I read some tonight. Rex read some also.
Sunday, January 19, 1947 Rex, Robert & I wen't to Church at LIberty this morning. Evelyn & Amelia told me that Rudell said tell me Kathryn is bad sick. Rex & I wen't to see Kathryn this afternoon. I don't believe she will live many Days. Stanley is getting along fairly well. Stanley's mother & Rudell were with them & they had lots of company. Dr. Finley came while we were there. Rex & I Read some tonight.

Monday, January 20, 1947 It has rained today & is turning colder. The wind is blowing. I havn't felt well today so I havn't done anything much. Just the general housework. I got a card from Rudell telling me about Kathryn being bad sick. I Read some tonight. My side is better but now I have a bad cold. Rex went to town today.
Tuesday, January 21, 1947 It is real cold today & the wind has been blowing hard. Rex killed 3 hogs this afternoon. Harold Sisk & Dock ate dinner with us. Claronce James came late this afternoon & will spend the night also. I am nearly sick with a bad cold. The men ground the sausage & cut up the lard. Mr. Jones came tonight & helped also. We played Rook aftertwards. Clarance & I won more games that Rex.

Wednesday, January 22, 1947 Rex & Clarance wen't to Dock's this morning to help him kill hogs. We canned 8 gts of Ribs. Callie came to tell us Kathryn died last night. Lawrence came & told us also. Rex & Clarance Rendered part of our lard this afternoon. Rex & I wen't to town tonight we wen't to Jessie's & took her some meat. Dock killed a hog for her. We wen't to Barnett's funeral home. Kathryn is at the Funeral home. Alyene Elmer & their children had already gotten here from Okla. Fannie, aunt Georgia, Rudell, Fred, Alyene & Family were at the funeral Home.
Thursday, January 23, 1947 Rex & Clarance finished rendering the lard this morning. We ate early dinner then Mother, Rex, Robert and wen't to Barnett's Funeral Home and wen't with the funeral possession to the Grapevine Babtist [Baptist] Church for the funeral. Rev. Rupert Utley preached the funeral. Burial was at Grapevine Cemetary. We didn't go to the cemetary. I sure will miss Kathryn. She will be missed by all her family and friends.
