Mix all ingredients together and cook 20 minutes, stirring occasionally To prevent from sticking. Strain + serve.

Rice Croquettes

¼ cup rice ¼ tsp salt One cup water ¼ cup milk 3 tsp flour 3 tsp butter ⅛ tsp salt Cook the rice salt + water Double Boiler Scald milk, Blend flour salt + water Make by method 2nd mix rice with White Sauce, spread flat on platter allow to mellow over night, Shape into balls Roll into crumbs egg.

Recipe for Soap {Oct 23rd} Cold Process Empty the contents of a can of lye into a stone-jar or an iron vessel add 2½ parts of water extrememly careful of using lye Stir until the lye dissolve Set aside until the temperature is luke warm Melt 5½ lbs of clean fat in a pan over the fire until all dissolves When luke warm turn into a mould add the lye gradually stirring constantly in order to blend them well Stir until thoroughly combined

Cran-berry-Sauce ½ cup cran-berries 2 tblsp water ¼ cup sugar

Wash and look over cranberries Remove any spoiled ones, Place in small kettle with water Cook until the pods burst Add sugar cook water 2 minutes Remove from fire

Cranberry Pie Cover the pie-tin with plain pastry and trim edges Fill with cran-berry sauce Roll pastry for upper crust Cut into ¼ inch strips and lay across the pies Leaving parrallel across uncovered spaces of ½ inch Arrange 2nd layers of stripes
