Cream of Tomato Soup

Stew together 1 pt of tomato and 1 slice
of lemon, 1 bay leaf 10 minutes.
Heat 1 qt of milk.
In a saucepan melt 1 tablespoon of butter,
when bubbling hot add 1 tablespoon of flour.
Cook until smooth.
Add about 1 cup of hot milk and cook well.
Pour this into the hot milk.
Strain the tomatoes. Add 1 level teaspoon
soda and 1 level teaspoon sugar
Add to milk mixture season with salt
and pepper. Serve hot.

Cream of Asparagus

1 bunch asparagus
1 pint milk
1pint of veal broth
or 1 qt milk
1 large tablespoon flour
1 large tablespoon butter
Carefully clean asparagus. Cut in
inch length. Do not use hard parts. boil in
