[[Better Home and Garden]] - July 1938
King Cabbage Toss-Up.
1 clove garlic, 1 tsp. salt, ¼ tsp. black
pepper, 2 tbsp. tarragon vinegar; 1 tbsp.
cider vinegar, ½ cups salad oil, 2
cups coarsley shredded red
cabbage, 2 cups coarsley shredded
white cabbage; 2 cups coarsley
shredded white cabbage; 2 cups coarsely
shredded celery cabbage; 1 ½ cups
sliced celery, 1 bunch curley
endive, chopped, tomato wedges
if desired.
Rub salad bowl with cut garlic
add salt, pepper & vinegar;
blend. Beat in salad oil with
fork. Add cabbage, celery & endives
toss quickly but thoroly [thoroughly]. If
desired garnish with tomato
wedges. Serve immediately. Serves 8.

August Salad
1 head lettuce, 2 large tomatoes, cut in
wedges, 2 cups pineapple cuts,
drained, 1 green pepper, cut in strips
1 cucumber sliced, 1/4 cup French
dressing.
Break lettuce in salad bowl
arrange tomatoes, pineapple, green
pepper & cucumber over lettuce
Add French dressing just before
serving. Serves 4.
