"Tried Recipes"

(my favorite) Spice Cake.

¾ [illegible]


1½ C. Sugar ½ 1 t salt ¼
¾ " butter nearly ¼ ¾ 1½ t cinnamon
eggs 3 eggs 1 egg ¼ ¼ ½ t. nutmeg ⅛
1½ 3 C. (2½ cup [diced?]) flour (scant) ¾ ⅛ ¼ t cloves ½
nearly ½ ¾ C. coffee nearly ¼ ½ 1 t. vanilla ¼
1½ 3 t. baking powder ¾ t

Cream the butter and suger
add the eggs, one at a time + beat
well. Mix + sift the dry ingredients.
add them to the liquid mixture.
add them to the liquid mixture.
add the vanilla.

7 min. icing
¾ 1 C. sugar. ⅛ C 4 T boiling water.
Stir up water + sugar + add
unbeaten egg white. Beat until stiff in
double boiler.
