To Pickle Walnuts
Take 100 Walnuts about the middle of summer when a pin will go through them, put as much water as you think will cover them, with salt enough to bear an egg - boil it and let it stand till cold then pour it on the nuts tie them close let no air come to them they must lie two weeks in the pickle - shifting it twice then take them out and put them in vinegar for a month, shift them twice then take a gallon of the best vinegar, add pepper & cloves of each an ounce mace and nutmegs of each half an ounce - ginger two ounces

Cherry Pie 3/4 cup Sugar 1 1/2 tablespoon cornstarch 1/4 teasp salt 3 cups canned cherries drained 1/3 cup chery Juice 1/4 teasp almond extract 1 tablespoon butter
