Office of Supt Indian Affairs
San Francisco Cala
July 21st 1856
Hon Geo W. Manypenny
Comsr of Indian Affairs
Washington D.C.
Sir:
Having returned
on the 17th. instant from Nome Lackee Reservation
I have the honor to report that during my
absence I visited a newly discovered valley,
(of the existence of which I had been informed
and had advised the Department some Months
since) in the Coast Range of Mountains
to the westward of Nome Lackee.
Some weeks since Mr. S.P. Storms
was directed to visit this place with a view
to ascertain its fitness for an Indian reservation,
A copy of his report on that subject is herewith
enclosed.
Nome Cult Valley is not now occupied
as a Reservation, but is intended as a
rendezvous
