San Francisco 4th May 1859

Hon. Chas. E. Mix, Commissioner of Indian Affairs Washington,

Sir,

On the 18th Janry last we sold Thos J Henley 126 barrels of Navy Bread for stores for the Indian Department of this State, upon the 25th of the same month, he approved the Bill for $531 79/100 "payable upon the Receipt of the remittance from the Indian Department for the 4th quarter of 1858." Since then, Mr Henley has resigned and we cannot learn from whom we are to obtain payment of this account. Will you be kind enough to inform us? Mr Henley represented at the time that the remittance was expected within a month, consequently, we sold at a cash price.

We Remain Very Respectfully, C. Adolphe Low & Co.
