[illegible] the proceeds of the sale of horses at Nome Lackee -- enc. certificates of deposit [therefore?] -- also Clerk's receipt of letter of the 17th of the time [illegible] respecting certain land claimed by Agent V.E. Geiger etc.

Sir, I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of November 18th ulto directing the amount ($3,657.50) received from the sale of horses at "Nome Lackee" to be payed to the "Credit of the Treasurer of the United States," Certificates of the same have been received from the Asst Treasurer in this City as will appear in my accounts for the 1st Qr. 1860.
I have also to acknowledge the receipt of your instruction dated Nov 17 regarding the "Stations or subdivisions of sections" of land claimed by V.E. Geiger
Agent, on the Nome Lackee Indian Reservation. I have taken the necessary steps to ascertain the information required, which will be communicated to the Department as soon as received.
I herewith enclose the Certificate of Deposit as required.
