Hon A B Greenwood
Commissioner of Indian Affairs

I am in receipt of your letter of the 2d Feby requiring my views regarding the appointment of Thomas J. Moorman as farmer [lieu?] John M. Gray deceased on the Tejon Indian Reservation by Agent Vineyard, before receiving your approval.

I was informed by Agent Vineyard of the appointment made by him only through his communication forwarded to the Department through this Office.

I deem it expedient for the interest of the Department at present to approve the apointment of Mr. Moorman, that no obstacle may be interposed to the effort of Agent

Resident agent at the nearby Sebastian Reservation was Colonel James R. Vineyard, so I think this name is "Vineyard"

John M. Gray, employee of Colonel Vineyard of the Sebastian Reserve, was stabbed to death at the Tejon reserve. https://scvhistory.com/scvhistory/cullimore_oldadobes.htm
