San Francisco, Nov 12th, 1860

My dear Sir

You will greatly oblige me and those concerned by calling on the Commissioner of Indian Affairs and acertain [ascertain?] from him when the amount due Judge Louis indian agent of the Fresno Reservation is going to be sent him, the amount has been due the agent for upwards of two years, and from the agent to the merchants and others a much longer time. Such delays are [illegible?] to merchants who sold their goods at very low prices to the agent in expectation of receiving their pay quarterly and yet the agent informs them that he has received nothing from the Government. I am employed by Mr Hughes of Millerton who has advances goods and provisions to the Indians to the amount of $6435.24 the delay in receiving his just dues has ruined his business and has been the cause of a very great los. You will oblige me very much by giving this your early attention. Very Respectfully Your Obt [Obedient?] Servant [signed]Paschal [Bequetty?][/signed]

[To:?] Hon. C. I. Scott Washington, D.C. [/To:?]
