I have to acknowledge the receipt of
your communication of 29th Ulto. informing
me of the appointment of A. D. Rightmire Esq
as Superintending Agent for the Indians
in the Southern District of California,
and requesting that he be required to
furnish this office with a certificate
of the U.S. District Attorney for the
Southern Dist. of California, as to
the sufficiency of his bond, before any
money sent by the Treasurer to be
disbursed by him shall be placed to his
