now of Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, having first
duly sworn according to law deposes and
says.

I lived in the State of California from the
year 1850 until the 11th of Nov A.D. [rest obscured by the following overlying letter]

Sept 21st, 1860.

Sir: By instructions received by one from
A. B. Greenwood, Comr. of Ind Affairs dated July
30, 1860 I have to notify you that your services
as an employee of this agency will not be
required from and after this date.

at Sixty dollars per month making the sum
of One hundred and eighty dollars — and this
affadavit is made as an application for its
payment. I should have said one hundred
and eighty dollars less nine days at the
rate per month before mentioned. I asked
for my pay of Mr Dribblebiss [Dreibelbis] several times
before I left California; but he always
stated that there was no money with him
