Washington Dec 10. 1862

Sir The enclosed account of T. M. Ames and accompanying papers, were left in my charge in April last by Supt. Wentworth with the view, as stated by him of referring them to the Indian office for action, at an early day, they not having been called for, I deem it proper to refer them to you for the action of the office.

San Francisco Feb 10th 1862

Dr Sir:— Enclosed you will find a copy of my acct. against the US Gov. as copied from the Books of the Mendocino Indian Reservation — also, my discharge by Jno A. Dreibelbis, Sup't. Agt. &c & a letter from A B Greenwood Commissioner Please try and obtain a settlement of my acct. as you know the circumstances as well as the need I have for the amt. U.S. demand Treasury notes will be very acceptable for the amt. due.

Also I enclose a letter from the Surgeon Gen. Office to Hon Wm M Gwin, in relation to a claim I have upon that department, all of the papers in relation to which you will find on file there, please attend to that also and much oblige

Department of the Interior Office Indian Affairs 18th January 1861

Sir, The letters from Dr. T. M. Ames dated Novr 28th relative to his pay for services rendered at the Mendocino Reservation, referred by you to this office Jany 5th 1861, have been considered. The accounts of Late Sub Agent Ford for the time specified by Dr Ames have not been received at this Office therefore it is imposable to have a settlement. Sub Agent Ford's effects have been Administered upon, And so soon as his accounts are rendered Dr Ames accounts will be adjusted.

Mendocino Reservation Oct 3rd 1860

Sir In compliance with instructions received from A B Greenwood Commissioner of Indian Affairs, I have to notify you that your services as Physician on this Reserve will not be required from and after this date.
