As the season for snow is advancing
and we are not disposed to distress the
Settlers on the Reservation, I have given
the Supervisor Instructions provided
the Settlers will give assurances not
to molest or interupt the Indians or
Goverment property, they will be
permitted to remain in the Valley until
the weather is auspicious & they can
have time to dispose of their produce
and look out for other homes.
The Settlers of course are
opposed to removal until they are paid
for their improvements - But it is utterly
imposible for both Whites & Indians to
remain longer together, hence my
action in the primises.
I have the honor
to be very Truly
