Washington D.C. June 8th 1862

Sir: I have the honor herewith to enclose an account for services rendered the Ind: Dept. in California as Physician to the Mendocino Reservation

These services were rendered in 1860-61 whilst stationed at Fort Bragg, Cal. on the Reservation. Upon presenting the account to Supt Agent Dreibelbis who was just going out of office, I was informed that no provision had been made for the liquidation of this or similar claims. His successor Mr. Geo. W. Hanson held the matter under advisement and suggested that the claim which he endorsed, be presented by myself. My constant presence in the Field with the Army of the Potomac has prevented my presenting the account in person and even now the urgency of the orders I have recd render it impossible for me to do so. arduous character I trust the matter will be speedily adjusted by the Dept. A copy of this account was retained by Mr. Dreibelbis who certifies to it. And another is in the possession (by an oversight) of Dr White who was acting on Special Service of the Department in Cal:
