reason as I shall be while there, among my
old friends, I hope not to exceed the $500
allotted me for expenses. I am invited by the
Chairman of the Indian committee to be before
them to-morrow and explain our relations and wishes; and
I now hope during your administration
of Indian affairs, the Intercourse Act or its
equivalent, will be passed over our State,
where it has been so long needed & so
indispensably requisite.
The Steamer being ice-bound in the Columbia
River, I shall possibly be delayed several
days
