Sir:- The following is the estimate of funds which will be required for the Indian service for the Southern District of California, for the fiscal year ending June 30th 1863:

Pay of Superintending Agent, $3600 Pay of Clerk to Supt'g Agent, 1800 Pay of Three Supervisors, 5400 Pay of Twelve Employes, 7200 Traveling and Incidental expenses, 3750 Removal and subsistance of Indians, purchase of cattle for beef, milch cows, agricultural implements, wagons, blacksmith's tools, pay of

Physicians &c., &c. $30,050 Purchase of fifty mules, For farming purposes &c. 7500 Total, $59,300
