Dear Sir: Enclosed please find the following Certificates of Indebtedness given by Mr M B Lewis late Sub Agent Fresno Reservation Cal, for amounts respectively due:

W B Cummings $151.16 G Greiersen & Co 295.42 Do 501.30 $947.88

You will please observe that the amount due W B Cummings is for supplies furnished Fresno Indian Agency during the Quarter ending March 31st 1859, and we presume exactly at par with several claims alllowed and paid for inst [instance] that of Gomer Evans paid to us last year, and those of L Leach and L G Hughes which also have been allowed. You will also please observe by an enclosed transfer that we have bought the said Claim of Mr Cummings, so that the amount is now due us.

In regard to the 2 enclosed certificates of ours (G Greiersen & Co) than we trust that you now will find the amounts correct, and send them up to the second Auditor for Settlement.

Besides above mentioned certificates and transfers, you will also please find enclosed a transfer from Mr M B Lewis to us for the amount of salary due him ($1058 33/100) from July 1st 1860 to March 15th 1861 inclusive. Mr Lewis has sold us this amount long ago, but as we supposed a Power of Attorney would be the simplest way to get it, we applied with one last year, as can be seen by one filed with the Second Auditor in the later partt of March or the beginning of April 1862, but as we never have got an answer in regard to this matter we now again take the liberty to apply for it.

As we understand that Mr M B Lewis lately has sent an Account Current of all the Indebtedness of Fresno Reservation and such explanations as the Department have asked for, we trust that the Department will find enclosed Amounts due us, and if so either send us a Draft for the amount

to Millerton Fresno County California, or send the Money to Supt J P H Wentworth in San Francisco with instructions to pay it to us. If the Department should please to send us a Draft, we would prefer one payable in San Francisco.

As this is a very old matter, and the amounts due are for Goods sold at cash prices several years ago, we trust that the Department will please try to pay this amounts as soon as possible
