Sir:
Whilst stationed in California as a medical officer of the U.S. Army in 1860-61, I acted as physician to the Mendocino Ind Reservation. I was employed of the two Sup't of Ind affairs for the Northern District of Cal: Maj. Jno. A. Dreibelbis. I was ordered east just as his successor Mr Hanson came into office. My acct: for services was presented to him in San Francisco. He could not pay it. but endorsed its presentations in person in Washington, on my arrival I was ordered on duty with Gen McClellan's Army but I transmitted the acct. to your office, since which I have heard nothing
