Sir: I have the honor to enclose new setts of vouchers, No. 47, DeWitt Kittle & Co., (together with Bills of Lading,) bearing the date of June 20th 1862 instead of June 13th 1862, at which time the inv. was paid, although the storage was, and should have been paid up to the 20th, the time of the delivery of the goods, -- Please return the two vouchers No 47 now in possession of the Dept., as a promise was exacted before the above was signed, that the same should be returned to DeWitt, Kittle & Co.__ I also enclose Bills of Lading for Vouchers, No's 27.28 & 29 of the 2nd Quarter 1862, copies of which I have had made out sworn to, (before a Notary Public) as correct, retaining the same in this office. In your statement of differences you ask for receipts of parties to whom the each was paid, the receipt of which appears on the face of the Vouchers _ the goods for Oregon and Washington were consigned to Mesrs. DeWitt, Kittle &Co, to be retained until the freight was paid, when the ships left port, the consignees advanced the

freight money, and upon the receipt of funds for the purpose, from the Dept., they in turn [illegible] the amt of the same together with their charges; the receipt for which appears on the vouchers,_ Trusting this explanation may prove satisfactory to the Department.__ I remain Very Respectfully Your [illegible] Servt J.
