State of California Colusa County, M A Lacock being duly sworn deponent and says that in the month of August last she sold to Geo M Hanson Superintendant of Indian Affairs for the Northern District of California for the United States one horse for the sum of two hundred & fifty dollars, that at the date of said sale she expected to said Hanson duplicate vouchers to the United States for said sum of two hundred & fifty dollars and received from him a draft of which the following is a copy Viz. Lacocks Horse Aug 1863 No. 50 Assistant Treasurer of the U. S. San Francisco Pay to Margarett A Lacock or bearer Two Hundred & Fifty dollars $250.00 " Geo M Hanson Supt. Agt &c

That the date though in a [illegible] was not put in to said draft and the [illegible] date of the vouchers is now forgotten by this deponent, that the draft was not honored by the Assistant Treasurer and she has never received any compensation for her horse that she now holds the draft made to be delivered up

State of California Colusa County Andrew J. Ringold being duly sworn deposeth and says that he is a resident of California and a citizen of the United States of America, that he has resided in Round Valley since 1857 until about last August that he took up a land claim and made improvements thereon & that during the year 1863 he put in crops consisting of wheat corn brans and some garden vegetables - that in the month of August 1863 he sold to the United States for Indian preparers through Geo M Hanson then Superintendending Agent of Indian Affairs for the Northern District of California his improvements to crops for the sum of One Thousand dollars and took a draft on the Assistant Treasurer for the same that the draft was never paid or honored, that at the time of taking paid draft and making said sale he executed no deed of the monies but did execute vouchers in triplicate for the said monies improvements granted in the said sum of One Thousand dollars. And this deponent further says that by virtue of said bargain & sale the Indian department of Round Valley went into possession & yet he can and hold as of [illegible]

own right two hundred and seventy seven 15/60 (277 15/60) bushels of wheat worth ninety - cents per bushel. The product of about three acres of corn (3 acres) the gold not known but as this deponent believes worth twenty five dollars per acre. Also one hundred & fifty head of hogs weighing at least One hundred pounds each on the average and worth at least three & a half cents per pound. Also, fifty head of fowls. worth fifty cents each, in all amounting to Eight hundred and Seventy Four 51/100 dollars as if within says not
