Sir, In accordance with your instructions of July 28th 1864. I forward herewith an estimate for the funds required for the fiscal year ending June 30th 1866. The growing necessity for colonizing the Indians on Reservations. and their increasing disposition to be so provided for. renders it important that a sufficent sum should be appropriated to provide transportation, subsistence and clothing to foster and encourage them. With no larger appropriation than that of last year I can not more than provide for those under my charge, the most expensive lot of which will be those recently ded to my care on the Trinity.

Estimate for funds necessary for the service in the California Superintendancy, for the fiscal year ending June 30th 1866.

For the purchase of cattle, clothing, food, teams

For the general incidental expenses, including
traveling expenses of the Supt and Agents	8.000
For the pay of the Supt of Indian Affairs	3.600
two clerks to the Supt of Indian Affiars	3.600
four Indian agents	7.200
four physicians, for blacksmiths, four
assistant blacksmiths, four farmers and
four carpenters at $50. per month	12.000
four teachers at $50. per month	2.400
one interpreter at $50. per month	.600
For buildings at agencies and repairs thereof	10.000
For the removal of Indians	6.000
vaccination of Indians	.500

I certify on honor that above is in my judgment a correct estimate of the funds actually required for the service in this Superintendency for the fiscal year ending June 30th 1866
