Yuba City Cal. Jan 2nd 1865

Hon C. Cole

Dear Sir

I have at last recd [received] a reply from Hon J. Ross Browne, who fixed upon this day for a [settlement?] with me, and two days since I recd [received] another letter [illegible] him postponing for one month; until after he makes a trip to Los Angeles for his health. Will you be so kind, as to advise with Mr Dole (if you have not already made a settlement for me) whether it is necessary for any one to be associated with Mr. Browne in the settlement & if so whom as Mr Steele declines further action in it. I suppose Wiley would be proper if any one more be necessary.

I think it strange I have recd [received] no reply from either yourself or Mr Dole to so many letters. I presume it cannot be wantonly so on the part of either.

Very truly your
friend [illegible?]
Geo. M. Hanson

P.S. I have written to Mr Dole to pay some of those claims for which I took vouchers except the checks are surrendered as some have been transferred to other parties & part of them I have paid.
