[illegible] I have to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 10th ultimo [Feb 10, 1864?] enclosing copy of your letter of 25th April (20th May) last, and late Sub Agent Lewis statement of amounts due you. and requesting adjustment of the claims head of me transmitted by you. I have therefore [illegible] [illegible] to the exceptions which still exist in the accounts of [M. B.?] Lewis to which they have refinance, and until satisfactory explanations have been supplied by him, no action can be take in the settlement of the claims to which you refer. So soon as Agent Lewis shall have finished the evidence necessary to the adjustment of this account, and the claims [illegible] funding, an early action will be taken in your case, of which you will be advised.
