In consequence of my being ordered from Ft. Miller, yours of Oct 4th was a long time in overtaking me and came to hand only a short time [illegible?] in time [illegible?] to [illegible?] you of the papers and you [illegible?] [illegible?] Indian dept which I hope you [will?] find all right, for in them [illegible?] time, [officers?[ on this coast [illegible?] put on short [illegible?] and every [dollars?] [illegible?] [illegible?] [importance?]
I will also take this opportunity to ask you to place my name on your list for the distribution of Documents especially the [annual?] reports of the [Patient?] [affairs?], Secretary of the Interior and Agricultural Bureau which Documents [illegible?] value very highly.
