Washington City, D. C. December 5th, 18165 D.K. [name] [illegible] Indian Affairs, Washington, D. C. Sir I beg leave to ask your favour able consideration of the claim of Mr. Joel Lewi whooccupied the position of [name?] upon the [illegible] Laske and Round Valley Reservations in California From information deceived realiable, law satisfied [illegible] he Lewis [illegible] good service; he produced at Round Valley 1000 tons of vegetables, none than was raized on all others or has since [illegible] accomplished

as is believed. Form some cause or other unknown to this [illegible] , his pay has been long withheld, nor has he any record evidence in his [illegible] by which another [illegible] leave the accountant of his just claims. Be pleased to examine the accounts here to [illegible] rendered to your office and make such an adjustment at an early day, as the equities of teh case [illegible] I am very respecfully yours [illegible] John Ferguson Atty.
