Sir:

I have the honor to acknowledge receipt of letter from the Dept at Washington under date of August 18th 1865 enclosing vouchers of Sandford Hastings M.D. (deceased) for medical services [&?] medicines furnished the Nome [illegible?] Indian Reservation ant to $629.63 also [illegible?] of [illegible?] of Saml [Samuel] P. [Sempss?] transmit the United States against [loss?] if the original voucher is presented for payment.

I have also to acknowledge receopt of funds to pay the above indebtedness amt to $629.63 the same having been placed to my credit at the N. S. [Name?] Mint at San Francisco and as soon as Mr Sempss has [illegible?] with the requirements of the Dept the accounts will be returned to Washington.
