Office of Indian Affairs San Francisco Cal May 5th 1865

Sir

I have the honor to inform you that Charles Maltby Esq has this day presented a certificate from D.W. Chesman to the effect that his bond as Supt. of Ind. Affs. has been executed and that he has taken the oath of office. In accordance with your instructions of 25th March I have surrendered the management of affairs connected with the Superintendency and will proceed to turn over the property at present in my charge with all possible dispatch.

When this shall have been accomplished my accounts will be made up and forwarded to your office.
