Sir
I have the honor to inclose for the
approval of the Comr of Indian Affairs original
estimates for garden seeds and medicines for Smith
River Reservation forwarded to this office by Wm.
Bryson agent and received March 18 inst.

Agent Bryson writes this office under date March
6th inst in a letter accompanying the inclosed estimates
as follows. "The medicines are very much needed
at present. I hope you will purchase the medicines
and seeds and send them by next Steamer as we
can not wait for them to go to Washington for approval,"

I am satisfied that the interests of the service
requires their immediate purchase. the season for planting
is at hand. and the sanitary conditions of the Indians
require the medicines_ I trust that the purchase of
the articles embranced in the estimates inclosed a reduced
and affirmed at this office will be approved by the
Comr of Indian Affairs.
