I dont expect you will deem this letter worthy of an answer

Dear Sallie as I am alone this evening
I concluded to answer your verry kind note which
I received several weeaks since but in the first place I ask
your forgiveness for not answering [it] not maner
but sercumstance have bin such that it [are] impossible
for me to write [sooner]
I seat myself this beautifull evening for the purpose of writing
to one who is seldom absent from my mind I have nothing particularly
interesting to write nor am I sanguine that my letters heretifore
written have been received for I have been looking for anser evry
week but as yet, none have been received Perhaps they have been
thrown aside and are among things forgotten but that I am not
yet prepared to believe, but be this as it may I will venture
another in hope it may reach you I had not heard of the change
which has taken place in your health untill very recently I sympathise
with you deeply more than I will express I believe Mr [] regard
me as changed friend but why should you havent I always proved
true and faithfull to you if I was ever any thing else I was not
conscious of it
