My dear Fr Punch,
Enclosed please find the letter of M. Ferriel. In accordance with your suggestions of Dec. 18th I send it to you that you may get a price from another party, presumably the L & A. R.R. So far I have not named a price; as you are on the spot you will be able to gather some information as to present values, My first impression is that I would not consider any offer under $ 17000.00; what do you think of it? In fact I am inclined to hold out for a still higher price.
As you know I would not have considered a sale at all at present, on your account. However I realize that you may desire a smaller dwelling, with less expense for care, heating, etc. and that the indifference of the men to the obligations assumed by them is another reason for your readiness to give up the Evangelists' Home, and I appreciate your kind help to dispose of it.
Kindly answer as soon as possible and oblige
Your devoted servant in Cht + Camillus P. Maes Bp of Covington.
Happy New Year!
