16D-1. Fig. 16D-l (a) shows a wood airplane rib. For convenience, assume
a chordwise load distribution as shown in (b), and draw complete
shear and moment diagrams for the rib.

16D-2. Using a load factor of 4, determine the maximum fiber unit stress
in the rib of problem 16D-l. Note that the resisting section for
moment at spar cut-outs consists of cap strips only.

16D-3. Determine, for the rib of problem 16D-l, the shearing unit stress
at the junction of cap strip and web on section A-A. Use a load
factor of 4.
