From the Superintendent of the Boston Public Garden. Boston, Sept. 1, 1879.-I have used Bowker's Food for Flowers in the flowerbeds of the Public Garden and Squares of Boston during the past season, and find it to be all that it is represented, both as to producing healthy growth of the plant and its generous flowering. William Doogue, Supt.

Owosso, Mich., Sept. 26, 1879. - Bowker Fertilizer Co., Gentlemen:-I have used your Ammoniated Food for Plants, and find it you represent. I had tbe nicest pIants in Owosso, last winter, all due to the use of your Fertilizer. Mrs. C. E. S ----.

Du Bois. Ill., Oct. 2,1879. - Bowker Fertilizer Co.:- The package of Bowker's Ammoniated Food for Flowers receized from you has given my wife great satisfaction, in the increased growth of plants and increase in number and size of blossoms. Very respectfully, L. Bunce.

From W. C. Strong, Ex-President of Massachusetts Horticultural Society, and a Large Grower of Flowers and Roses. Newton, Mass., Oct. 11, 1879. - Gentlemen:- For several months past we have used your Plant Fertilizers upon our roses in pots, for the purpose of testing results. While we do not consider the experiment as completed, we yet feel safe in saying that our plants have received very decided benefit, and are now in better condition than we have ever had them at this season. A most excellent condition of wood and roots has been obtained. We are so much encouraged that we are now using it upon our rose borders for winter forcing, and confidently expect that we shall be able to give you more positive and very favorable results at a later date. Yours truly, W. C. Strong.

Tabor, Iowa, Oct. 3, 1879. - Bowker Fertilizer Co.: - Your Ammoniated Food for Fowers [Flowers] give entire satisfaction. Very Respectfully, Wm. M. Brooks.

Comstock's Horticultural Implements.

These Implements comprises, in simple combinations, a Wheel Seed Sower, Wheel Cultivator, Wheel Rake, Wheel Scuffle Hoe, Wheel Shovel Plow, Wheel Strawberry Runner Cutter, and Wheel Verge or Turf Cutter.

Comstock's Hand Cultivator and Onion Weeder combined. In the cultivation of Onions, Carrots. and other small drill crops, will do the work of six men with hoes, and do it with ease. It pulls the weeds and thoroughly pulverizes the soil. For cultivation and weeding, we believe it has no equal.

The changes for each kink [kind] of work can be made in a few minutes, and every Implement of the combined machine works as well as if made specially for the purpose. With any of them one man can accomplish with ease as much as half a dozen men with common tools, and do better work.

The combined Machine, with the extra attachments complete, sows all kinds of seed in drills; weeds all kinds in drills and pulverizes the soil, cultivates between rows, cultivates one or both sides of a row at once, opens and covers drills, deep or shallow; skims the surface or loosens the soil, gathers loose weeds into heaps between rows, plows and hoes any depth and width required, throws the earth up to or away from the rows, cuts strawberry runners and cleans the ground, cuts the turf edges of walks and borders, scrapes and cleans walks and alleys. The shape of the frame protects large plants from being torn by the teeth when run between rows which nearly meet together. The same frame, wheel, and handles answers for all the combinations. They are shipped by express or freight, either from Des Moines or the factory.

NEW PREMIUM CORN SHELLER.

This is the only Cheap Practical Hand Corn Sheller in the market and is in every way the Best Hand Corn Sheller Ever Invented.

Shells 25 to 30 bushels a day very easily. Is especially recommended to farmers who shell large quantities of corn for seed. It has been customary to remove the imperfect kernels from both ends of the ear with the hand, and use the full, perfect kernels of the center for seed. This is a long, tedious process, but with this sheller it can be done in one-tenth the time. To poultrymen, to seedsmen and to anybody who shells corn, we recommend it. Can be carried in the pocket and samples of corn taken from any part of the field by shelling only part of an ear.

Our Premium Corn Sheller is destined to become the Leading Hand Corn Sheller of the day, and tbe trade will find it profitable and to their advantage to secure the sale of it. When it is once introduced no other small sheller will be wanted in your locality. This Sheller opens a new field for reliable agents. A very profitable business can be done upon a small capital.

Believing this to be the Best Low Priced Corn Sheller ever invented we have secured the General Agency for the United States, and we want Canvassing and Local Agents in every County. Cannot get out of order. Will last a life time. Ask your dealer for it and if he has not got it we will send a sample sheller and price list, prepaid to any address, upon receipt of $1.00 Address all orders to Publishers of Farm and Fireside, General Agents for the United States, Springfield, Ohio.

"Write for Your Paper." - No one person, or two, or three, can make up the material for the best newspaper. The great value of an agricultural and home paper consists in collecting and publishing the knowledge, opinions and experiences of the many. New methods, ideas and discoveries are being continually evolved by careful observers and workers in the field, orchard, garden and stock-yard, in the household and around the fireside, and the Homestead cordially invites its readers everywhere to send their best thoughts, their new methods, interesting facts and valuable discoveries for publication in its columns. Every farmer needs an Agricultural and Family Newspaper The Homestead is the best weekly paper of its class in the Northwest It is specially devoted to the interests of Western Farmers; to Stock and Fruit-raising, Dairying, Poultry and Bee-Keeping, and all departments of the Farm, Orchard. Garden and Household. It gives complete and carefully corrected Market Reports, a Summary of all important News of the Week. Among its regular contributors are many of the ablest practical men in the country.

Some Opinions of the Press. What a marked change Gov. Gue is making in the Homestead. He at once wheeled it into line with our very best farm papers, struck step in march with the intelligent corps that are building up farm literature. Traer Clipper.

The old Western Farm Journal, Des Moines, has been changed back to the Iowa Homestead. It is enlarged to forty-eight columns, and otherwise improved to such an extent that it is hardly recognizable. The farmers of Iowa should have an agricultural paper, and this is the best for Iowa. - Mt. Ayr Record.

We desire to call the attention of our readers to the worth of the Homestead, published by B.F Gue, at Des Moines, Iowa. The paper has been largely improved since Mr. Gue took control of it, and it now ranks equal to any published anywhere. - Ogden, Reporter.
