CHRYSANTHEMUMS—These are now, and deservedly the most fashionable of all autumn flowere [flowers]; their easy culture and freedom from insects and disease, commend them to the most inexperiencenced [inexperienced] cultivators, while the varied and gorgeous colors and fantastic shapes of many of the varieties make them the fashionable flower of autumn.
Ivory—A novelty, and the grandest variety in the great Chicago Chrysanthemum Show last November. On some specimen plants scarcely a leaf can be seen between the abundant flowers. An average shaped plant of this magnificent variety is well shown by our engraving. The flower is a perfect ball of the purest white, very double and of immense size. some being fully six inches in diameter. Very sturdy, symetrical [symmetrical] growth; unequalled as a pot plant. Everone [Everyone] who loves flowers will have Chrysanthemums, and no one can afford [afford] to be without the queen of all sorts, the new Ivory. Each 25 cts.
L. Canning—Large pure white. 10 cts. each,[.]
Marvel—Large pale pink, with a crimson blotch on each flower. Quite a novelty. 10 cts each.
Puritan—Large pure white; one of the best. 10 cts. each.
Waban—Very large, full flower; a beautiful pink. Petals very large, curved and twisted, making a superb flower. 10 cts. each.
Mrs. D. D. Farson—A most meritorious variety; size above the average, solid and compactly formed. Color rich silver pink. 10 cts each.
Shasta—Large spherical blooms of tubular petals; pure white. 10 cts. each.
H. E. Weidner—Unquestionably the best yellow. It is the finest lemon yellow in cultivation; a fine free grower. 10 cts. each.
Ada Spaulding—Peach pink, incurved, double to the center; broad, wide petals. Unexcelled. 10 cts. each.
J. C. Vaughan—Richest plum crimson without any shade of purple. Flowers reflexed; very large, strong, stiff stems. This is a really beautiful and distinct colored variety. 10 cts. each.
E. Molyneaux—Rich deep red, faced bright gold; petals of great size; flowers attains nine to eleven inches in diameter. 10 cts. each.
Lizzie Cartledge—Extra large, full double flower; under row of petals reflexed; color dark rose, reverse silvery white. One of the best novelties of the past year. 10 cts, each.
Lillian B. Bird—Double flowers, very clear flesh pink, tubular petals, quite distinct. 10 cts. each.
Cullingfordii—The brightest in color of all dark Chyrsanthemums [Chrysanthemums], being the richest shade of blood crimson. Can be held in bloom until Christmas, if kept in a cool place. 10 cts, each.
Christmas Eve—As its name indicates, this varlety [variety] can be kept in bloom until about Christmas; flowers large, clear, snow white in color, with curved and twisted petals. 10 cts. each.
White Button—A dwarf variety, with small, pure white, button-shaped flowers; very full and double; a profuse bloomer. 10 cts. each.
Yellow Button—Similar to above, except color, which is a deep lemon yellow. 10 cts. each.
Gloriosum—Light lemon color, with immense flowers, having narrow petals gracefully curved and twisted: quite early and one of the best. 10 cts. each.
President Arthur—Very large; pink. 10 cts. each.
Fantasma—White fringed. 10 cts. each.
Comte de Germini—Nankeen yellow, striped brown; very large flower. 10 cts. each.
Yellow Dragon—Large Japanese golden yellow. 10 cts. each.
FUCHSIAS.—These, when in full bloom, are the most grace ful of all cultivated plants; nothing surpasses the beauty of well grown specimens. They delight in a light, rich soil, and may be grown either as pot plants or in a sheltered border. In either case they should be protected from the hot mid-day sun and from heavy cur rents of air.
Storm King—As will be seen by the cut, this grand plant is of the most beautiful weeping habit. The buds for two weeks before they expand are balls of bright, scarlet crimson. The flowers reach an enormous size. The sepals are glowing, scarlet crimson, while the large double corolla is of delicate waxy whiteness, elegantly penciled with deep bright crimson. 15 cts each.
Phenomenal—The largest Fuchsia that has yet come to our notice; short tube and sepals of a rich reddish crimson color; corrolla [corolla] very full and double, of a beautiful azure violet, flaked with red. It will attract universal attention in any collection. 15 cts, each.
Black Prince—Tube and sepals bright waxy carmine, sepals large and broad, with pale green tips, large, open, pale pink corolla. We have a plant of this variety in our greenhouse which is nine feet high, nearly twenty feet in circumference, and it had over 2,000 blossoms on at one time last spring. They are easily grown in this tree form. 10 cts. Large plants by express, 25c, to $1.00 each.
Mons. Thibaut—Dark red; corola [corolla] rose vermillion. Single, 10c.
Esmeralda—Red; corolla very large and double; lilac and rose. 15 cts.
Avalanche—Large, double purple, yellow foliage. 10cts.
Earl of Beaconsfield—Three inches long, deep carmine, fine. 10 cts.
Speciosa—Sepals blush, corolla carmine. 10 cts.
Snow Fairy—Sepals crimson, double, pure white corolla. 10c.
Meteor—A trailing variety, beautiful foliage. 10c.
Carl Holt—White corolla striped crimson. 10c.
