DOUBLE CALLIOPSIS
COPYRIGHTED 1890
NEW DOUBLE CALLIOPSIS.
Every one who knows the old fashioned single Calliopsis or Coreopsis loves it, as it is one of the most showy flowers for bedding, and the colors are so brilliant that the popular name, "Bright Eyes," has been given them. It has for many years been a great favorite with thousands of flower lovers. What will you say now to having a new double Calliopsis? It is one of the most attractive flowers. They grow very quickly from seed, blooming in a few weeks after seed is sown, and if flowers are removed as they begin to fade the plants will be loaded with bloom throughout the summer and fall. In color it is brightest golden yellow, distinctly marked, striped and blotched, with rich dark brown. In some of the flowers the petals are smooth and lie flat, some are cup shaped, and others are beautifully fringed. Pkt. 10c.
PENTSTEMON GLOXINOIDES.
We have always thought very highly of the Pentstemon but when we saw this grand variety growing near Hartz Mts. in Germany we were surprised and delighted with it. It was truly grand and we purchased the stock at once. It is one of the most useful hardy perennials we know of and if sown fairly early will bloom the first year. Of graceful growth, having numerous large spikes of showy Gloxinia-like flowers 2 inches across, of many brilliant colors; blooms from June till October. Give rich soil and good culture. Pkt. 10c.
NEW MAMMOTH HELIOTROPE.
This most wonderful new Heliotrope ranges through all shades of violet and blue to deep indigo, frequently producing flower-heads almost white, which are more than twice the size of the old varieties, many of the heads measuring (when fully expanded) 10 to 12 inches across. The fragrance is simply lovely. Easily grown from seed, which should be started early in the house. Packet of 100 seeds, 10c.
HOHENZOLLERN ASTER.
A grand new pure white variety from Germany. Plant is of bushy habit, nice for beds; flowers are borne on very long stems, frequently 15 to 18 inches in length, and are of pure white color and extraordinary size, measuring 6 or 7 inches in diameter. The petals are long, curled and twisted, making a beautiful ball of white. Pkt. 10c.
AFRICAN WATER LILIES.
These have been quite popular during the past few years. They are easily grown and bloom in three or four months from the time of sowing seed. For persons who have no pond, half a barrel sunk in the ground is a nice receptacle to grow them in. Full directions for starting seeds and growing plants are sent with each packet. We can furnish either the red, white or blue varieties at 10c per packet. One packet each of the three colors for 25c. See bulbs on page 117.

DOUBLE CENTAUREA CYANUS.
The National Flower of Germany and celebrated as the late Emperor William's favorite flower. Who does not know and love the old-fashioned Ragged Sailor or Bluets. This is a new double flowering variety of it. We offer the seed in mixed colors, light and dark blue, white, pink and red, dark red with light blue edges, white striped with red and blue, etc. A continuous bloomer. Pkt. 8c.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN FLOWERS.
Our mixture contains a great number of varieties of the flowers from the Rockies, and embraces many of the beautiful specimens which thrive and bloom in great profusion on the barren mountain sides. Pkt. 10c.
CELOSIA SPICATA.
A wonderful new variety of Celosia and far different from any ever before seen. It is a handsome annual, forming upright well-branched pyramids about 2½ feet in height, and producing at the summit of each branch spikes of flowers of a bright rose-color when opening, changing to silvery white; fine for the garden or growing in pots. Pkt. 15c.

GIANT FANCY PETUNIA.
MAMMOTH FANCY LEAVED RHUBARB.
While traveling in Europe last year we found this grand novelty which is grown exclusively for ornament and is one of the handsomest plants for the center of flower beds or specimen plants on the lawn that can be imagined. The immense leaves towering above a man's head give it a superb tropical appearance. Both stem and leaf are finely colored and few would suspect that it was a rhubarb. It is a perfectly hardy perennial and does not reveal its true beauty until the second season. It is truly strange that this grand novelty has not been introduced before. Pkt. 10c.
GIANT FANCY FLOWERED PETUNIA.
A grand new strain and unquestionably the finest selection of petunia in existence, as it is of incomparable beauty, size and luxuriance. Most of the flowers are exquisitely ruffled or fringed on the edges, and are of enormous dimensions (4 to 5 inches across), but their great merit lies in the unlimited varieties of colors, markings, veinings, blotchings and stripings, in the most grotesque and beautiful combinations; with deep throats of charming yellow, white, black, green or maroon, running off into intricate veins. Some of the colors are rich and gorgeous and others are of lovely delicate shades. If you like beautiful petunias be sure to include this variety in your order. Produces very little seed and will therefore always be high in price. Worth about double its weight in gold. Pkt. 25c.
