72. SEED CATALOGUE AND GARDEN GUIDE.

SHASTA DAISY.
THE Shasta Daisy is one of the most marvelous productions in the flower line that has ever been brought to the notice of floriculturists. It is the first of a new type, combining the Japanese, American and European strains selected to produce this wonderfully beautiful and useful strain. Its first qualification is hardiness; it can be grown out of doors by anybody where it is not cold enough to kill oak trees. Second, it is perennial, blooming better and more abundantly each season. Third, it can be multiplied rapidly by simple division, and it is not particular as to soil. Fourth, it blooms for several months. Fifth, the flowers are extremely large and graceful, averaging about 4 inches in diameter, with three or more rows of petals of the purest glistening whiteness, and are borne on single, stiff, wiry stems, nearly 2 feet in length. Sixth, the blooms when cut remain perfectly fresh and in good condition for two weeks or more. No other flower can compare with it in usefulness. It originated with Luther Burbank, the "wizard of horticulture." We predict that it will soon find a place in every garden. Strong plants, each 15c; dozen $1.50.

BOSTON FERN.
This is a wonderfully healthy, rapid growing and graceful house plant. It has been in great demand everywhere. Many people buy it in preference to the finest Palms or Rubber Plants. Its long, broad fronds are more graceful than the old Sword Fern and seem to grow faster. Thrives in all rooms, gas or furnace heat do not seem to injure it. It is one of the most beautiful and useful of house plants. It is of easy culture and its sword-like fronds, on large specimens, attain a length of 5 to 6 feet, produced in a bewildering mass, arching, curving, and interlacing in every conceivable direction. Each 15c.

NEW CHRYSANTHEMUMS.
COL. APPLETON.--If you only have one yellow "Mum," let it be Appleton. It is a perfect model of the commercial Chrysanthemum. Dwarf, stiff stemmed, elegant in foliage, enormous in bloom, finely incurved and golden yellow. Perfectly healthy. Each 15c.
YANARIVA.--The sensation of last season's flower shows. Resembling, but far surpassing the prize winners for two seasons past. Flowers immense, often measuring 8 to 9 inches through. Color delicate blush, deepening at center. A splendid variety for pot culture. Each 15c.
YANOMA.--One of the finest late white Chrysanthemums yet introduced. Flowers extra large and well formed; foliage luxuriant, an ideal grower either for cut flowers or pot culture, and can be had for Christmas. Each 15c.

VARIEGATED SAMBUCUS.
One of the finest hardy shrubs for lawns or borders. They are large rampant growers, and therefore require frequent trimming. Leaves are beautifully marked with silvery white and creamy yellow. Strong plants each 15c.

DRIVEN SNOW ABUTILON.
The finest pure white variety that has ever been offered. Flower is very large, wide open and as white as the driven snow. Plant is fairly loaded with bloom and we consider it one of the most charming sorts ever offered. Each 20c.

ROGER LAMBERLIN ROSE.
Notice the illustration of this grand novelty on the front cover of this catalogue. It is undoubtedly one of the most remarkable Roses yet offered. The petals are irregular on the edges like a double Petunia; the color is glowing crimson throughout, except the edges of the petals, which are all distinctly marked with a white band, forming a sharp contrast and the most unique combination of colors known in Roses. The growth is free and vigorous, and the fragrance is delightful, equal to the finest of the hardy Roses. This is a novelty of the most striking order. Each 20c; 3 for 50c.

DAHLIA, KING OF FANCIES.
Hundreds of persons were delighted with this elegant new variety which has well been named King of Fancies, as it is a truly a fancy flowering sort of striking beauty. Color is almost indescribable, being most elegantly marked, striped and blotched with crimson, scarlet, pink, etc., on a pure white ground. Everyone should try it. Each 25c.

HELEN GOULD ROSE.
This is probably the most beautiful and satisfactory Rose for general planting ever introduced in America. It has proved itself to be the strongest growing, and freest-blooming, largest-flowering hardy rose in existence. It is a better rose for general planting than American Beauty--the dream and hope of every rose grower for years past. The flowers are full and perfectly double, the buds beautifully made, long and pointed. Color is a rosy crimson. One of the best for winter blooming. Each 15c, extra large 40c.

MRS. ROBERT PEARY ROSE.
This is without doubt the grandest of all white climbing roses. It is as hardy as any Hybrid Perpetual or Moss Rose, and will withstand, unprotected, the most severe winters. Flowers extra large, full, deep and double, and are produced on long, stiff stems, like a forcing or cut-flower rose. The buds are long and pointed, exquisitely modeled and gracefully finished. Both in bud and flower it is truly beautiful. It has a fragrance that is delicious, just like cherry blossoms. An absolutely hardy, climbing, sure-to-bloom rose. Be sure to get this wonderful variety. Each 20c; dormant 50c.

STELLA GURNEY AGERATUM.
It is undoubtedly the finest Ageratum yet introduced. Color a deep even blue and literally forming a sheet of bloom all summer. Dwarf and compact in growth. One of the best bedding plants to date, and equally valuable for baskets and vases. Each 15c.

BOUGAINVILLEA SANDERIANA.
This beautiful free-flowering variety is very popular, especially as a plant for easter. It is of strong and rapid growth, and the brilliant rosy-crimson blossoms are produced from early in March until midsummer; in fact, a plant will frequently flower the greater part of the year. Altogether it is a most desirable subject for the conservatory or window garden. Each 25c.

STEPHANOTIS FLORIBUNDA.
One of the most charming hothouse climbers, growing rapidly, with long, deep-green foliage, and producing clusters of pure white, deliciously fragrant flowers. Does finely for house culture, blooming all summer. It is not hardy, but should be kept partially dormant in the house during the winter. A really beautiful decorative plant when properly trained on trellis and a plant rarely seen. Each 25c.
