and wants to know when you will be home, I have not allowed myself to think of less than six weeks from the time you left, but if you are satisfied to come sooner you may be sure of a cordial welcome, My friends continue kind and attentive, after Mrs. Lee came she came in and stayed most of the morning with me the next day Pearl bought me a basket of roasting ears, Gracie comes almost every day and is pleased if she can do anything for me, but I can pretty well wait on myself seldom call on Mrs. Millikin for assistance she helped me prepare the peaches for preserving and pickling and I told her she might have the rest on the tree she dried several pounds before the rain set in, as far as I know we are getting along together now

I hear Mrs. Dalton is at home but I have not seen or heard from her, we had no preaching at our church yesterday morning. Last Friday I was invited to spend the day with Mrs. Alexander went about 11 returned about 4 while there heard a good deal said about the pic-nic that was to be that evening thought it would be so nice coming home by moon-light soon after I came home saw a hack full of ladies and gentlemen pass and a buggy with Will Jarrell and his cousin (I think from Durham) all in high anticipation of pleasure about 7 oclock they were sitting in a

boat near the bank, she wanted a flower that was near them he reached to get it lost his balance and fell, the boat floated of with the young lady in it, her screams attracted the others, they came but could do nothing as they could not swim, they went for help but it was too late when they got the body, life was extinct. The party returned about 11 oclock with his remains. The funeral was Sunday morning at the Methodist church Mr. Jones took for his text "Boast not thyself of tomorrow" [illegible] the services were very solemn and impressive. My heart aches for the Mother. As I came out of the church Mr. Lea offered to see me home I was glad of his assistance he asked many questions about you hoped you would not get as worn out as Mr Snow did he lost all interest in everything

If you stay long enough I expect my list of wants will be as long as Lilys was to Charlie but if you can find a pin with hook for eye glasses please get it. I paid 25 cts for the one I have and it has answered a good purpos for 12 years. I do not wish an expensive one the one is so tarnished I do not use my glasses. Do as you think best about getting those you spoke of. I think there would be an uncertainty about suiting my eyes.

I think it is time to quit for I can hardly controll the pen at all.
