My Dear Daughter Your last very ple -sant letter came to hand last Sun -day soon after I came from church as usual I enjoyed it very much and feel that the time of your return is drawing near I suppose you will want to be with Mary all that cir cumstances will admit.

First I will speak of your flowers the balsan has shed its last bloom the asters are looking very pretty or would if they had different sur -roundings, many of them are white several blooms so near the top they look like one large one, no doubt they would have done better if you had been here to attend to them

Chickens come next. All the large ones you left are here, the four out of the 25 that Mrs Thrift left are doing nicely give me no trouble at all but the old ones want to set just as bad as ever, I have to watch or they would spoil all the eggs they all like one nest, sometimes I get so provoked I catch them by the tail and throw them half way across the yard (now laugh) Yesterday I prepared mellon for pickeling and read the Herald in the morning after dinner rest -ed soon Gracie came for her little visit, then Minnie came and made quite a social visit after she left the two Mrs. Daltons came and pres -ently Mrs. Lea came and we had quite a sociable time, Mrs. D. [junior] being the chief speaker and center of attraction she is very enthusiastic

Yesterday morning Mrs. Bundy came and made a long visit she wanted the refusal of the rooms when Mrs. Millikin moves Yesterday the girls took their Mother and [Nerius?] down to their old home for two or three days visit, the girls came right back I noticed Sallies fan is quite [dilapidated] if you could get her a red one and a blue one for M. and a black bordered hdkf for the mother they would be much pleased with them as any trifle you may choose. When Mrs. Dalton was here she spoke of getting silver salt stands at Walkers before the pri -ces were reduced thought if she had waited she could have gotten them at half price, I did not know what she meant, but on Mrs. Richardsons table I noticed little gondolas for salt stands
