My dear Daughter,

Your very welcome letter came to hand Thursday, it was a dark dreary day rained without ceasing, and I had taken some cold and felt badly so you can imagine your pleasant letter was highly appreciated. Mrs. Clark came to -wards night, she too was glad to hear from you and sent love

I could not judge the figure of the carpet by the sample but will say I would be much pleased to have a new carpet and I think it very cheap but just now I am not prepared to invest so heavily the room is 5 yds. square I think what we would gain from the corner of the parlor would

allow for waste in matching figure and that 30 yds would cover the room, do as you think best the samples are grave, when I get any thing new I want it to look new, the carpet in one room is dark enough to suit me. If you want bargains I think you would find them at stores where they cut carpets and have remnants large enough for mats, which would be very ac -ceptable for our room and sitting room too, I think you made a good selection for your dress, no doubt it will wear well and give satisfaction. One more thing wanted black dar -ning cotton yesterday morning when I found it still raining wonder -ed what I would do by way of amuse -ment, finally got a basket and collected all the old stockings I could find and worked till five oclock

would have enjoyed it more if I had had proper material By invitation I went to dine with Mrs. Dinwiddie last Wednesday they had been to Mrs. Daltons the night before Mr. D. seemed to think she had got -ten more good out of the Fair than any one he seen could tell more about it spoke of a very pretty fan she brought as a souvenier they also told me the Rev. Mrs. Dalton was here, had been in town a week I felt a little hurt that I had not heard from her, that night I sat on the piazza till ten oclock hoping she would pass from prayer meet -ing and I would have her stop and spend the night with me but it was cool and damp and I felt that I was taking cold so I went to bed and left them singing I have not heard from her since

Last night to use up a part of the time I went over to Dr. Joneses there I learned that Will and Avey were to leave for Chicago this morning he asked for your address, I hope you will see them, I dont know when Mrs. Welch is expected I think soon

I hope in your next I will know something more definite about your coming I want to see you more than you can think but want you to stay till you are satisfied with your visit every way. Has Mary and the children come home I think this is the time that was set for their return

Give my love to them and all interested and receive a large share for yourself from your aff Mother A. F. Fisher
