Mrs. Millikens are all well and are fixing up the best they can for company A good number of Quakers are in town and are coming constantly. Mr. Snow got home Sat. night I have not [seen?] Frank Dalton left Sat. night for N. Y. where he will join his wife and go on to Chi May the good [Father] watch over and protect you is the daily prayer of your Mother Much love and for Hughes

Appendix no 2 --- Friday Morn.

Must take time for a word. After dinner Wed. H. asked if I would like to go down town and take the Whaleback to Fair grounds to see fireworks, of course I would. Geo. would have gone too, but it was prayer meeting night. The boat carries 5000 and seemed pretty full. Can't take time to write it up now, but it was "just too lovely for anything". Did not leave the boat. H said it was the finest he had seen. Got home about 11. Yesterday was my Fair day, and today I go with G. to the Lake, I was mistaken about his remaining, will probably come in with him next time he goes out. You will probably see Mrs.

Dalton soon after you receive this and she will tell you of our meeting. A very pleasant surprise. Spent the evening with them and had Hunter D's company to 43rd St. Got home 10:30, H. had concluded I had found Cos. J. and gone home with her. H. took my valise, and I am to get early lunch and go down town bargain hunting till 2' o'clk He is just as good to me as he can be, so is G. but I see more of H. We have lunch every night, so the tea cakes &c are very convenient. Your letter came yesterday am so glad you are such a good girl, would

repeat Marylily's advice to C. Am grateful to all friends who are so thoughtful. 30 boarders are too many for you, let Mrs. T. have them. _ The eggs I brought were smashed but everything else was all right.
