Chicago Mar. 15 1887

My dear Sister:

I was made very happy yesterday in getting a letter from you of Mar. 5th telling of the welfare of yourself and dear ones. You write of its being a long time since we have communicated. I have felt it to be so, and have many times been on the point of writing to you, but many things have hindred my doing so. Charlie and Jennie left home the 20th of Dec. for Southern California, and have not returned yet. They desired letters every day and it fell to my lot to write all but the Sunday letters, then Carl had time from his studies to write them. better than for two winters before. I have gone through without a cough. The children have both been very well, and not missed a day of school, and Ada has been to dancing school twice a week, and music lessons every morning of half an hour, and two german lessons a week out of school. I have not been out much since they went away, the weather has been quite severe. I was pleased to know Lilie has been so favored in going through with her sickness, and has a nice little one, no doubt it will be a great pet in the household.

I have had letters from all my children recently all in good health. Joanna wishes to be remembered to all her aunts and cousins. I am expecting Josiah here very soon, he is going to build a house this Spring, that with his other business will keep him quite busy. Our friends here are all well at last accounts. I see Mary quite often, Anna goes to school next door but one to us. I see her alight from the carriage. Give my love to Eliza and Charles and wife and a kiss for baby from your ever aff Sister Mary Morse
